Hi childucare! Is anyone trying to find a funny, exciting, and whimsical novel for children? In this article, I will share with you one of my favourite children's literature: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Happy reading, and enjoy the adventure!
About Charlie and The Chocolate Factory
Who does not like chocolate? Many people love it, including me. Charlie Bucket and his family love chocolate, too. But they barely cover basic meals, let alone chocolates. Charlie only has one chocolate a year and will share it with his entire family.
One day, Charlie got a Golden Ticket that allowed him to visit the world's most popular and biggest chocolate factory, owned by Mr Willy Wonka. He and four other children got to tour the factory with Mr Wonka. They visit many rooms in the factory and see magnificent yet mysterious machines, encountering unpredictable experiences.
In this book, we will accompany Charlie to visit Mr Wonka's factory. Enjoying the exciting experiences with him and maybe witnessing some secrets in the chocolate factory!
But there was one other thing that the grown-ups also knew, and it was this: that however small the chance might be of striking lucky, the chance is there. The chance had to be there.
What makes this novel special?
Charlie and The Chocolate Factory is a very popular classic novel for children. It has been adapted into many movies. First published in 1964, this work of Roald Dahl still has not lost its shine. So, what makes this novel so special?
A magical storylines
Chocolate with many shapes and mixed flavours, chewing gum that never lost the taste, Oompa-Loompas, the magic elevator, and so much more. Dahl brings magic to the story. But it's not only about magical things; this novel has whimsical storylines.
When Charlie got the Golden Ticket, I was as excited as him! When he sailed on the boat over the Chocolate River, I was so mesmerised! The novel is witty and easy to read. Although sometimes Roald Dahl has dark jokes, indeed.
Unforgettable characters
As a main character, Charlie is a son who many parents will be proud of. He is polite and a little bit timid. I cannot say whether he is smart or not. The novel highlighted his attitude more than his intelligent. But I do adore Charlie for his kindness. He put his family first, and his family put him first. The family may lack money, but they have a load of love.
The only meals they could afford were bread and margarine for breakfast, boiled potatoes and cabbage for lunch, and cabbage soup for supper.
On the other hand, Mr Wonka is a little bit eccentric. He reminds me of a mad scientist, a little bit scary sometimes. I cannot say he is kind. He is straightforward and kinda rude. He creates and sells chocolate and many other sweets. He is not a warm or friendly type. However, I like his imaginative and inventive characteristics.
As for other children, they have diverse characteristics, which lead to different fates on the trip to the chocolate factory. Each of the children has their own flaws, and Dahl is not trying to hide it in this novel.
Valuable life lessons
The other interesting of the novel Charlie and The Chocolate Factory is that each moment with the children in the story has valuable lessons, especially on parenting. Roald Dahl shows that parenting matters for children's behaviour. It's not only providing materials but also educating them well, such as respect for others.
Who would enjoy this book?
This book is for children because the language is easy to understand, although some words may be slightly rude. However, adults will love this story too. I do. Anyone who loves a witty and adventurous story will love this novel.
Conclusion
So, the novel Charlie and The Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl brings so much more than just a love of chocolate. It brings you a warm hug but with a tease. It's fun, it's amazing, it's sweet, just like chocolate. The story also highlights the value of being nice and respecting others and the importance of parenting.
